On the site of the Buena Vista Estate, John Watlings Distillery opened its doors in 2013. The estate has a rich and royal history before eventually falling into disrepair and then been reborn as a distillery. The distillery bears its name from John Watling, a famous buccaneer who frequented the islands in the 1600’s. The property offers guided tours along with Rum tastings and sales. A must stop on any rum lover or historian’s tour of the city.

As much as the English and Spanish tried to lay claim to the islands of the Caribbean, the waters in the area were ruled ruled by pirates. Junkanoo Museum

What once began as a temporary celebration of freedom for slaves who were given three days off for Christmas, soon blossomed into an exuberant, colorful parade called Junkanoo. Learn about h e history and traditions of Junkanoo at the Junkanoo Museum.

Changing of the Guard – Parliament House.

As a former British Colony, pomp and ceremony still exists in the Caribbean sun. Watch the changing of the guard with the Royal Bahamas Police Force Marching Band and Royal Bahamas Defense Force Guards.
The ceremony is held on the second Friday of each month and is free to the public.
